ABOUT THE TEACHER

Laura Huizi, a certified instructor at Be Yoga Japan, Hiroo, Tokyo

Laura Huizi

Like so many others, Laura was introduced to yoga through an injury. However, she was surprised to find not only healing, but also grace and freedom on the mat, as well. Fueled by passion and curiosity, she studied a range of yogic traditions over the next 20 years, including Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and ISHTA yoga.

Ever a student, Laura decided to deepen and expand the scope of her practice by studying to be a teacher. As a teacher, her classes seek to cultivate a balance between breath, intention, and movement as inspired by the words of B.K.S. Iyengar: “Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” Let’s dance.

She is eternally grateful for the guidance and generosity of her teachers—Sharon Gannon, David Life, Kumiko Mack, and Meg McCreery—and the inspiration and patience of her family, friends, and students.
